“Hey all! I’m planning a backyard wedding for this August (expecting about 100-120 guests) and all those people using the one bathroom in the house isn’t an option for a variety of resons. SO I’ve been looking into portable bathroom options. Basically there’s 3 teirs of bathrooms:
- Luxury Bathroom Trailer (~$2,000): Nice, fresh running water, flushable toilet, big mirror, lighting, etc. Basically a real bathroom.
- Flushable Porta Potty (~$500 for 2): Pretty much like a standard porta potty except it flushes and has a freshwater sink inside the unit. Slightly more spacious than a standard porta potty, probably doesn’t smell as bad.
- Regular Porta Potty: Y’all know what this is like. It’s not an option for us because, well, it’s pretty gross for a wedding.
Obviously the luxury bathroom trailer is the nicest option and the one I would most like to use as a guest. BUT it is 4x the cost of the flushable porta potty. Does anyone have any experience with these flushable units? I’d be more willing to go that route if I could be convinced that it is indeed nicer than a regular porta potty, doesn’t smell, wouldn’t severely turn guests off.”

Even clean porta pottys get gross in the august heat, people don’t want to use them in their nice clothes, and we’ve actually seen people leave early because of bathroom issues. We had a backyard wedding last august with the trailers, and people still talk about them. It made everyone a heck of a lot more comfortable.”

-“Echoing everyone else go for the trailer! I was at one wedding with them and they were incredible! I was at a wedding with a porta potty and I absolutely refused to use it. I just quietly found the bathroom inside the house instead. It’s not just about the smell. Drunk people are not the most accurate or hygienic with their bodily functions. I don’t want to go in there with a long dress and try to navigate potentially pee covered floors or try to hike up my dress with heels in a cramped space in a poorly lit environment and you just KNOW a bunch of ladies will try to hover pee and do it horribly. I literally would rather pee in a bush than use a porta potty in fancy clothes.”
